The first annual 2005 NJ Capoeira Encounter, organized by Mestre Glauber and sponsored by Abalou Capoeira, was a huge success. The next encounter will be held in April. Guest Mestre's, suggested by the event participants are being invited to teach the workshops. This will be two full days dedicated to learning and playing. From the event in December a CD was studio recorded and will be made available with the Encounter Revista of photos from the event and lyrics to all of the songs on the CD in English & Portuguese along with a bio of each Mestre. The CD is a compilation of original songs written by the Mestre’s and traditional Capoeira songs for students to use in the roda. The registration form and Encounter materials will be sent out soon. They will also be available online at www.abaloucapoeira.com .

Professor Maranhao and Grupo Liberdade de Capoeira in association with Mestre Glauber invites you to a roda to benefit the children of St. Jude's Hospital. February 5th at the NJ Capoeira Arts Center, 51 Bruen Street, Newark. The roda will be from 5-8 and Capoeiristas are encouraged to get sponsors of at least $10 for the event. Hello Devotees of the Brazilian Cultural Center of New England As you know the Center has closed for renovations with plans to reopen BIGGER and BETTER a year from now! Our classes have been relocated: Capoeira: Dance Complex, Central Square Wednesdays, 6- 7:30pm & Saturdays 3- 5pm $65/ 6 classes, $75/ month (due at the beginning of the month), $100/10 class card (good for 2 months) Samba Dance: Dance Complex, Central Square Saturdays, 12:30- 2:00pm $12/class or $65/ 6 classes, $100/10 class card (good for 3 months) Samba Drumming: Rehearsals meet at BCCNE through the end of the month (January).
