Getting lost is this trail that some call life,
     Overgrown by entanglements of strife.
     Feeling overwhelmed, overborne, and unequipped,
I find myself right up a creek without a ship.

Searching for anything to clear this mess,
Thirsty for this balm of my duress.
I start to wish I could just give up control,
Trapped inside this desert land of my soul.

Then something new presents itself, a series of events
More unlikely and uncommon then mere coincidence.
I fall into these open arms 'cause nothing else makes sense
And then my thirst is quenched and I'm convinced it's providence.

     Chorus:
So I'll sing for joy in the shadow of His wings (4x).

Been living in this desert for a while,
But amid this barrenness I've found my Nile.
The more I look, the more I see His face,
'Til I can't look without encountering His grace.

So I can't help but express this joy I've found
Since I've seen how His love for me abounds.
With singing lips I'll praise Him at the top of my lungs.
With open arms I'll embrace this work He has begun.

God made me in His image, it's crazy, but it's true,
And through my search I've found that He can give me life anew.
The beauty is He loves us all, not just a chosen few,
I just wish that I could share this joy, that you might find it too.
