First Annual Samhain Masquerade
October 31, 2005

Our first Samhain Masquerade was a huge success. 23 people participated in the costume contest, and that was probably about half of the total attendance throughout the evening. The music featured Pagan and Samhain-related themes, including those of willing sacrifice, death, and the promise of rebirth. Crafts included mask making and making a witch's ladder, a traditional craft that can act as a charm for many things depending on the colors of the materials used and, of course, the maker's intent. Free henna tattoos and palm readings were available to all interested. The only criticism the webmaster has heard is that the program could have been more educational. This is something we will be working on in planning the second masquerade, while still maintaining a focus on providing a fun opportunity to celebrate this most awesome of holidays.

Participants in the costume contest await their turn to strut their stuff.
