Theological Orientation

FAQ (Frequently Asked questions)

When can I move into my room?

You can move into your room for no additional cost on August 28th if you're from the United States and August 28th if you're moving in from another country. If you want to move in before that, it will cost $23/day for a single student and $31/day for a family. Make sure to contact Sheila Beckford (sbeckfor@drew.edu) at least 48 business hours before coming to campus to schedule a check-in appointment. A member of the Orientation team will get in contact with you and will meet you when get to campus to walk you through the check-in process and help you move in.

Can I miss Orientation?

First, Orientation is incredibly important as you start your Drew experience. It familiarizes you with Drew before classes start, gives you a theological and spiritual grounding for seminary education, introduces you to deans and professors, and gives you a place to form friendships with other students that will likely last through seminary and beyond.

However, if there is still a reason why you think you should miss Orientation (or any part of Orientation), the only person who can excuse you is the academic dean, Dr. Anne Yardley, since attending Orientation is a requirement for your admission to Drew. You can e-mail her at ayardley@drew.edu
